My Yoga Journey in Mazunte, Mexico. Mazunte, a small coastal town in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, is a hidden gem for yoga, wellness, food, drink, and people—basically everything. When I visited in October 2023, I fell in love with this place. Before leaving, I rented...
Heather Jacks in Mazunte, Mexico

Aloha!

Hi! I’m Heather-the Salty Yogi…

I have lived as a full-time nomad for many years: First on a Bus Named Bubba, then in a semi-truck, and today, a Sceptre 41 Sailboat named Gypsea Explorer.

I have been practicing, teaching, and playing with yoga since I was a kid. I am young at heart, but with midlife firmly in my rearview, I am a little older in other places.

I am not your typical yoga teacher. I drink. I cuss. I fish. Think Prada Meets Teen Spirit. You won’t hear much Sanskrit–and are forgiven if you don’t know your asana from a hole in the ground. I do know that Yoga is for everyone, from the salad-eating, Motley Crue lover to the fried pickle-eating line dancer.

So, I invite you to stretch, sip, and sail with us–wherever the winds may lead.

How I Teach Yoga While Living on a Sailboat

Steps to Begin Yoga Later in Life…

A Personal Journey at 58.

I felt old, a feeling that arrived one morning when I found myself sitting on the edge of the toilet, bending over to put on a shirt because I could no longer lift my shoulder. I draped a towel around me like a toga and went to the doctor.
